Top Gun Maverick is an American action drama film directed by Joseph Kosinski and written by Eric Warren Singer, Christopher McQuarrie, and Ehren Kruger. Top Gun Maverick’s official release was on Friday 27 May 2022. It is a sequel to the movie Top Gun (1986) which was directed by Tony Scott.

The first trailer of the movie was shown at Comic-Con International in 2019. Along with the trailer, the first 13 minutes of the movie were also unveiled during Cinema Con. Top Gun Maverick Official trailer release was on Tuesday 29 March 2022.
The trailer caused controversy since Tom Cruise wore the same leather jacket from the original film. The flag patches for Japan and Taiwan were the same in the squeal as in the original movie.

Top Gun sequel was announced in 2010 by Paramount Pictures. By 2012 a draft of the screenplay was finished. The film’s pre-production was put on hold after the director Tony Scott committed suicide. The movie will also be released on Paramount+.
