Three Thousand Years of Longing Plot
The plot of the film “Three thousand years of longing ” revolves around Alithea Binnie (Tilda Swinton) who is a British scholar. She suffers from bizarre hallucinations of demonic beings. During one of the trips to Istanbul, she purchases a unique antique bottle from which unleashes a Djinn . The Djinn (Idris Elba) offers to grant three wishes to her. As Alithea is a scholar of story and mythology, she knows all the cautionary tales of wishes gone wrong and argues that wishing is a mistake.
Story of the King and the Queen
The Djinn told Alithea about the three tales of his past and how he got trapped in the bottle. He tells the story of the Queen of Sheba (Aamito Lagum) and King Solomon who imprisons him in a bottle to keep Sheba for himself.
The second story centers on Gluten. Gluten was a young concubine in the palace of Suleiman the Magnificent. When she found the Djinn bottle, she wishes for Suleiman’s son, Mustafa to fall in love with her. But Mustafa was killed by his father. Gluten then hides the Djinn bottle.
The Djinn strolls the palace over the years. Later on, a concubine of Sultan Ibrahim finds this bottle. Djinn appears to her and asks her to make a wish. But she was scared and confused and wishes for Djinn to return to his bottle.

The film grossed $1.4 million on its first day. Variety called it one of the biggest box office bombs of 2022 and said about the film: “These days, audiences are so savvy about the tricks at a filmmaker’s disposal that the movie’s greatest achievement is that it seizes our imagination (or perhaps that’s our attention deficit disorder being so brusquely manhandled) and holds it for the better part of two hours, defying us to anticipate what comes next.”

The three thousand years of longing trailer was released in May 2022. The trailer reveals the two main characters Alithea and Djinn. The introduces the character of Alithea a lonely English woman who finds a mysterious yet beautiful vial. From the trailer, fans get an insight into what the story is about.
