Samaritan Plot

The plot of the Samaritan revolves around two super humans Samaritan and Nemesis (Sylvester Stallone) who are twin brothers. Both possess superpowers. They live in Granite City. They fought in the city’s power plant and both were killed in that explosion. But people believe that Samaritan is still alive.

A thirty-nine years old Sam Cleary (Javon ‘Wanna’ Walton) is working hard to help his mom with the financial crisis. He starts doing a job for a gang headed by Reza (Moises Arias). Cyrus (Pilou Asbaek), the real gang leader gets impressed by Sam and personally gave him some money.

Reza and his friends attacked Sam but Joe Smith, a garbage collector who lives near Sam’s apartment stops them. Sam gets the impression that Joe is actually Samaritan. In the meanwhile, Cyrus finds Nemesis’s hammer and sets himself up as the new Nemesis.

The Truth About Joe

Sam then tries to find out the truth about Joe. He then confronts Joe, who denies himself being Samaritan. Reza who is still looking for revenge hits Joe with his car. Joe gets badly injured. Sam finds that Joe is using healing powers to revive and heal. Joe asks Sam to keep his secret. They both then build a friendship.

We’ll that if Joe is actually Samaritan or not??, is revealed as the plot of the film proceeds ahead. 

The film got an average rating of 5/10. On the review aggregator of Rotten Tomatoes, 37% out of 67 critics’ reviews were positive. The website’s consensus for the film reads as: “Although Samaritan is better than it could have been, this Stallone-led superhero drama is creatively underpowered.”

The announcement of film production was announced in February 2019. The filming commenced on February 26, 2020, but was put to a halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On October 8, 2020, the film shooting resumed again.

Amazon Prime released the Samaritan trailer on July 27, 2022. The trailer gives an insight into Granite City where crime and violence have taken over. The trailer also revealed the character of Joe Smith who is working as a garbage man. Joe uses his powers to stop a group of bullies who are beating up Sam.
