Movie plot:

This story has already been adapted for the big screen a few times. Pinocchio the movie was released again in 1996, 2002, and 2019. So, what distinguishes Pinocchio 2022?

We don’t currently have a lot of information on the direction this movie will go in. But it appears that the traditional structure will remain unchanged in terms of its fundamental basis.

Pinocchio

According to Disney, the movie is currently being directed by Academy Award winner Robert Zemeckis and tells the story of a wooden puppet who sets out on an exciting journey to become a real boy. Geppetto, played by Tom Hanks, is the woodworker who creates Pinocchio (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) and cares for him as if he were his own son. Pinocchio’s “conscience” and guide are played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Cynthia Erivo, respectively.

Keegan-Michael Key plays “Honest” John, a new character played by Academy Award winner Lorraine Bracco is Sofia the Seagull, and Luke Evans plays The Coachman. The cast also includes Lewin Lloyd as Lamp wick, Giuseppe Battiston as Sero Stromboli, and Kyanne Lamaya as Fabiana (and her marionette Sabina).

Pinocchio

Things start to get a little exciting at this point. The cast for Pinocchio 2022 is truly rather impressive, as was said above.

Geppetto and Pinocchio

Tom Hanks, who is everyone’s closest buddy (but especially my best friend), has taken on the role of Geppetto, a woodcarver who later becomes the father of Pinocchio. Jiminy Cricket, the anthropomorphic cricket that serves as Pinocchio’s mentor or conscience, is voiced by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Pinocchio is brought to life by an ethereal Blue Fairy, played by Cynthia Erivo. Additionally, Pinocchio, our primary guy (or boy), has been portrayed by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth.

The voices of Sofia the Seagull, Keegan-Michael Key’s doubtful fox Honest John, Lorraine Bracco’s Sofia the Fox, Luke Evans’ the Coachman, and Sheila Atim’s Signora Vitelli are among the other notable casting changes.

Pinocchio

While there are currently few facts available, there have been some updates regarding Pinocchio 2022, including first-look photos and a teaser trailer (that curiously does not feature Pinocchio).

Due to the box office failure of its 2019 remake of Dumbo, it was rumoured on October 29, 2019, that Disney was considering releasing the movie on its streaming service Disney+. After appointing Robert Zemeckis as director, however, it was said that “a theatrical release appears more possible.”

In reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was formally announced on December 9, 2020, that the movie would return to Disney+ instead of receiving a theatrical release. The movie’s late 2022 launch date was made public in November 2021. The forthcoming adaptation’s debut trailer, which showed when it would be released in September of 2022, was unveiled on March 9, 2022.
