Movie Plot:
As outsiders from the other kids in their elementary school, Chip and Dale met and quickly became friends in a world where cartoon characters and real people coexist. Their friendship inspired them to start their own successful television programme, Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers.

However, Dale told Chip during production that he had also received a solo part in a spy series called Double-O-Dale, which Chip perceived as a slight to their friendship. The two had grown apart in the thirty years since the broadcast, and the Rescue Rangers disbanded.
While Dale maintained his acting career and underwent special CGI surgery to enhance his appearance, Chip became a wealthy insurance salesman. Dale now spends his time at fan conventions.
Monterey Jack, who has become indebted to a figurehead named Sweet Pete as a result of his cheese addiction, contacts Chip ‘n Dale in the present. He describes to the two a criminal enterprise where cartoons are kidnapped, changed physically, and sent abroad to be used in counterfeit products.

Chip, who still harbors resentment at Dale, wants nothing to do with the probe. Both show up to assist the police, headed by Captain Putty and Detective Ellie Steckler, after Monterey is later reported stolen.
Ellie reveals that she is a huge admirer of Chip ‘n Dale and advises the duo that, despite the fact that they are police officers with little authority, they can still attempt to locate Sweet Pete’s base of operations.
